July 2005

Swervedriver was a sadly overlooked ’shoegazer’ band in the 90’s. I still listen to their music a lot and this evening stumbled upon a treasure trove of live material. Hit that link, right click and download to your heart’s content.

To quote the site, “Please do not sell these recordings. They may be freely traded.” Right on.

Amelia is a pleasure to photograph. I’ve shot her portrait for three years running. She takes a while to warm to the camera but when she does it seems all I need to do is be present and press the trigger.

Ilford XP2 is still one of my all-time favorite films. So sharp. So clear. So rad!

Mt. St. Helens & Mt. Adams

It took three separate trips to Mt. St. Helens’ summit to get these pictures right. The first trip all I had was a 20mm lens and everything was too far away. The second trip I carried a 180mm lens with a doubler attachment but unfortunately forgot to bring radios to properly place the athlete Blake Osmundsen. The wind was howling and the possibility of Blake hearing me yell, “climb a little higher dude!” over 1/2 mile’s distance was nil. The third trip to the top was the charm.
