I just downloaded and installed the Akismet plugin on this here blog and it seems to work very well. It corrals suspected comment spam and then allows you to delete as many spam comments as you wish with one click. Works for me so far so good! This sure is a comforting message, “You have no spam currently in the queue. Must be your lucky day. :)” Must be Akismet working some vooodoo.

In order to install the plugin you need an API key which can be had once you start a Wordpress.com blog.

This is a picture I shot today of a Cornus alba ‘Elegantissima’(variegated red twig dogwood) leaf from our garden:

Fall is definitely here. I’m amazed at how closely this digital file resembles the actual leaf. It almost looks like the leaf was flatbed scanned. It wasn’t. The colors are true(at least on my monitor!) and this is a plant that I don’t usually expect to have interesting Fall color. Let’s hope winter arrives soon and that the snowpack is deep and lasts a long time!

I downloaded a new Wordpress template, Connections, for the blog yesterday from Patricia Muller at Vanilla Mist. I dig her design though must tweak it a bit to better suit my needs. The first tweak was to add one of my photographs, a view of the north side of Dome Peak in the North Cascades, to the header. The first problem was that the photo didn’t fit correctly. Oops! Easy Cowboy. The second problem I encountered was that my photo obliterated the cool header tabs though the carnage was not as bad as it seemed. The text links still appeared but no longer as tabs. That’ll have to do for now.

…is a fu*#%ng hassle! I’m on the verge of installing bad behavior but first I’m going to try ‘blacklisting’ some terms within Wordpress. And the terms are[insert drumroll here]:

Two years ago fellow Portlanders Pat Hanson, Dave Jun and I skied the Ptarmigan Traverse in the North Cascades. The other day I was scanning some slides for a stock photo request and came upon a bunch of images I’d forgotten. These pictures bring back to life memories I cherish. The first is a view of White Rock Lakes and Dome Peak, the second the view from camp towards the col where I shot the first picture and the third a shot of Dave heading towards our last night’s camp.

The following three pictures were shot day 1 of the 4 day trip:
