Wy’east Paradise
It was a pefect day to ski Paradise.
From anywhere really. From the summit is my favorite.
We left a car at the trailhead and Mel and Dayle dropped us of at Timberline en route to Meadows.
Pat and I choose to ski from Illumination Rock. It was a good call.
Jane was happy with it too. I think.
We waited at Illumination Rock for a while in hopes of running into Otto and Carl who were visiting from Tahoe and Munich respectively. We had no such luck and decided to head.
Pat opted to dry his bases during the descent. Thanks for the idea happyfish.
The snow was grabby for the first 1,000 ft. or so, soon turned to cream and then corn. No real glop was encountered.
Possibly the best part about skiing Paradise is finding the way out. Or getting slightly lost.
Beargrass means Huckleberries.
In a few months or so anyway.
We skied 5,500 vertical feet with one short carry from 3,900 ft. to 3,700 ft. Must hit this tour mid-winter when the freezing levels are low.
