Mt. Adams/Klickitat 01.07.07
It was a plum descent. One I’ve wanted to ski on Mt. Adams for a while now. Finally found the opportunity with Blake O. and Chris Saturday night and Sunday. Michelle skied it Saturday with Pat and Blake R. and we knew it would be phenomenal barring any major clouds arriving.
Blake’s forest pass kept the ticket givers away.
We rose at 6 and were off in 50 minutes.
We crossed a fine view 20 minutes in.
We arrived at Pikers in a shortlived whiteout. I thought if we skied the southwest chutes in a whiteout Michelle would have a good laugh!
We waited 10 minutes or so before a considerable clearing arrived. It was time to ski.
We decided to take a lunch break 150 or so feet down the run.
We ate lunch and sat through a few 5 minute cloud coverings. We decided to ski down after a half hour lest we wait too long and risk wallowing through dirt crusted mank lower down. Our plan worked well as we skied great corn the whole run minus the top 150 feet or so of slowly softening rime.
