I’m a people person and usually I pack a camera. I’ve learned the hard way that some of the most memorable images are the ones you miss. My goals as a photographer are to capture tasteful and authentic moments and to help make even the most uncomfortable subjects feel at home in front of a lens.
I cut my professional teeth working as a full-time stringer for the Portland, Oregonian newspaper from 1997-2001. Then assignment editor Kraig Scatarella nicknamed me Michael ‘A1′ Halle for my propensity to emerge from the sticks with above the fold A1 cover images.
